That pumpkin pie looks divine! My mouth is watering! I absolutely love pumpkin pie. I am the bringer of dip. I make spinach artichoke dip that everyone loves. And it's so simple to make. I wish I could say something wonderful, but it's just dip.

It is an art and you are an artiste! I, for one, let others do the baking!

Happy Thanksgiving, Cath!

Great lesson on crust making...this year I am cheating and doing a frozen one but still doing the filling myself.
Beautiful pumpking pie...just like a fancy chef would make!

I also make my own crust - same recipe as yours for crust, have used it for about 40 years, it came with my first food processor, but I don't advise using the F.P. for making crust, although it does make good 'art clay' with this recipe (tee hee) I use my hand mixer to mix the dough and stop when it 'looks right' - My friends call me a "Pie Snob" but they always seem to want me to make the pies when we get together. It's amazing to find someone who gets the same warm fuzzies making a pie that I do!

Many years ago when I was dating my to-be-husband, back in the mid 60's, I was going to his family's house for dinner. His grandparents lived with them and my mom suggested I make a homemade apple pie and crust to "impress" his grandma. I believe I was 16 or 17 at the time. I baked the pie, he picked me up, and on the way out to his house which was about 30 miles from my house, we stopped, he took a hunting knife out of his glove box, and ate the pie. I think I "impressed" him more than his grandmother. We were together for over 32 years before he suddenly passed away from a massive heart attack. Yet I still tell that "apple pie" story and in fact just shared it with someone over this past Thanksgiving holiday!

Your pies are gorgeous!
I do pies too, but I also have to do rolls, turkey, sweet potatoe casserole, mashed potatoes, any jam or cranberry dressing and the spring mix salad.
I am totally intrigues by your crust recipe, and may be bugging you for further details, mine is incredibly basic and is just the shortening, water, salt and flour. But it still gets everyone raving, LOL!

Yum!
I make my pie crust with butter, in lack of shortening here, over the "puddle". Works like a charm! And even though I have a cutter thingie, I always just crumble everything together with my fingers. Messy, yet satisfying. =)
