When I pulled into my driveway after work early this evening, there was one discernible difference.
Shade.
Yesterday there was still a tentative coming-on of the leaves; tenderlings who have been timidly negotiating their partnership with the sun. In their modesty, they left behind dappled, mottled attempts to create shade; a sort of filtered, adolescent light.
Today, such a change. The leaves are full, shiny, plump. As though having lost their innocence sometime between twilight and dawn, ripening in the heat of this warm day, leaving solid, reliable shadows in their wake.
Shade.
makes me want to kick off my shoes, throw down a blanket, and plop down with a good book :)
